DnA is a diverse group of directors working in film, television and theater who meet weekly to explore the craft of directing actors.
The main goal of DnA’s members is to sharpen our directing skills. We focus on expanding our ability to listen and to communicate effectively with actors.
We examine different approaches to our craft through workshops with prominent acting and directing professionals and instructors. We inspire and learn from each other’s work through feedback and critique in an environment that supports exploration, creativity and risk taking for both directors and actors.
DnA was founded in 2001 by Sarah Tuft, an accomplished writer and director. She recruited founding members Dylan Kidd (Rodger Dodger), Duncan Tucker (Transamerica), Brian Cange (The Skeptic), Maureen Tilyou and Nicole Franklin. Sarah developed DnA’s structure and fused it with Judith Weston’s methodologies to create the groundbreaking format we use today.
